4.2.2 - Unheeded Warning Changes

It's Attack Power. Even if the tooltip reads weapon dmg, the truth is it's only 1926 attack power now.

It was a needed change since Unheeded Warning got a buff in 4.0-4.1 which made it extremely powerful for many classes/specs, Feral druid though got the biggest buff from it, so much so that many would use it in PvP/PvE even though higher ilvl trinkets were available for use.

In fact this trinket was one of the many arguments about why "feral druids were over powered" even though it was the trinket not the character that was "over powered"

I'm glad about this nerf, because I didn't like the fact that Unheeded Warning was beating out every heroic trinket for Feral Druids because of it's on proc mechanic.

And with this change is shouldn't be last.

nearly every trinket in heroic t11, and normal t12 and above are an upgrade over Unheeded Warning, anything with a Haste Proc is really powerful instead of crit or Mastery, and On-use Agi trinkets are also very powerful as Agi still effect 100% of our dmg output.

Hit Cap and Ferals

I can give you a rule of thumb for hit/exp cap for raiding the Heroic Encounters in T11 and T12 content.

Pros of getting Hit/Exp cap:
  • More reliable rotations
  • higher sustainable dps
  • no misses/dodges = more overall dmg

Pros of not getting Hit/Exp cap:
  • Higher potential dps
  • Sporadic rotations
  • Leaves overall dmg up to RNG

For many of the Heroic, and some non-heroic, you may have limited amounts of time to attack the bosses as a melee dps, so being hit/exp after the changes that were put into place with the 4.2 patch make hit/exp caps much more desirable. Before 4.2 Feral Druids were the only DPS specs to not seek hit caps or for melee exp caps... because of the mechanics mentioned before, it wasn't a big deal to lose 20% energy from missed/dodged/parried attacks. But now, each attack we have helps the synergy of our dps, so though the overall potential of dps might be lower, being hit/exp capped provides your raid with a more constant damage dealer then one that one attempt might do really well, then the next attempt be behind by 2-3k dps from other classes.
